Day 282 (12th June) – Cederberg to Orange River

21 06 2011

A nice early start this morning and as it is winter in the southern hemisphere it wasn’t light when we were up at 6:30am and packing up our tent for the first time. Today we drove to the southern banks of the Orange Riverand made camp within sight of Namibia, just across the river.

Before I could make use of the lovely camp bar situated on the riverbank Jen insisted on taking me on a run. We ran through a rocky desert with a fairly strong sun beating down on us, as you do. I thought it a little unfair that my first run for 9 months be in a desert in the sun. The scenery while being harsh and barren was a nice distraction from the inconvenience of having to run.

Back at camp and with an icy cold Windhoek beer in hand we got to know our fellow travellers better, and soon the sun was setting on another day in Africa.
