Day 135 – (16th Jan) – Lake Tekapo

28 02 2011

Looking back at it now, River Surfing was a bit rubbish. Jen and I had decided we were not going to throw ourselves out of or off anything. This therefore ruled out Queenstown’s two principle attractions; Skydiving and Bungee Jumping, therefore, leaving a long list of indistinguishable mediocre activities. For no particular reason we choice river surfing.

Strangely enough, floating down river whilst holding on to a piece of polystyrene, frantically steering in a vain attempt to prevent going where the river wants to take you isn’t actually that much fun. This is pretty much river surfing. We won’t be doing it again and wouldn’t recommend you guys do either.

From Queenstown we headed to the tallest mountain in Australasia, Mount Cook. With no time or equipment (or in Jen’s case inclination) to trek the lower mountain, we pressed onto Lake Tekapo for the night.
