Day One Hundred & One (13th Dec) – Bariloche

Ruta de los Siete Lagos…

This morning the weather was glorious. Late last night we hired another car with the intention of taking it for a three day road trip around Argentina’s lake district. With the car loaded we were off by 9:30am.

The 200km route snaked its way through the achingly beautiful Argentinian countryside, passing seven brilliant blue lakes and through Parque Nacional Nahuel Hahuel. The drive was both spectacular and slow going, stopping frequently at viewpoints to take in the scenery.  I don’t think I’ve ever driven so slowly.

We stopped for a picnic on Lago Hermoso in Parque Nacional Lanin and watched the fly fishermen. The area is said to be one of the best spots in the world for fly fishing. We continued on to Villa la Angostura along Lago Nahuel Huapi finally reaching Bariloche.

We just had time to fit in Circuito Chico a popular short drive on Bariloche’s outskirts. We were rewarded with great views of Bariloche and the lake the city sits on, plus Monte Tronador – 3550 metres.
