Day One Hundred (12th Dec) – San Martin de Los Andes

19 12 2010

Early in the morning we drove to the nearby Parque Nacional Huerquehue. We were the first to enter the national park that day and as a result had the place to ourselves. We had a lovely walk through forests, past lakes and over mountain streams to a small but nice waterfall. Unfortunately time got the better of us and the last couple of miles of the walk were not a walk, but a run. We were running to return the hire car and catch the only bus of the day from Pucon to San Martin de Los Andes, Argentina. Fortunately I didn’t slow Jennie down too much.

The weather forecast was showing little sign of improvement over the next few days, plus we had heard the weather was better over the Andes in Argentina. So we decided to head over there and return in a few days to climb the volcano.

We caught our bus and from the window watched the weather steadily improve.
