Day Ninety Nine (11th Dec) – Pucon

19 12 2010

Pucon is an adventure and ‘outdoorsy’ town with everything on offer from climbing to zip lines, plus sking, quad biking, rafting, mountain biking…. That’s why Jen and I hired a car and went to a fantastic Japanese styled hot spring. The adrenaline can wait, besides the weather wasn’t good enough to climb Volcan Villarica –  2850m high active volcano that continues to spew lava, ash and plenty of smoke on a daily basis.

The springs were set in a small, steep and narrow valley with a small fresh water stream and 2 waterfalls running through it. The 17 hot pools were outdoors and dotted along the narrow valley. At points it snowed a little, and with the steam rising from the hot waters, it was a pleasant place to be.

On our drive back, we stopped off for a couple of short walks on some of the areas wonderful lakes.

4 degree plunge pool - I bottled it...
