Day Twenty Four (27th Sept) – Belem

4 10 2010

We’ve made it all the way up the coast to the Amazon River and from here we plan to head inland to Manous. The reason we have bust a gut to get up here leaving behind many European backpacks is because the Amazon (both jungle and river) is such a vast and unique part of the world that we both wanted to experience. The Amazon basin is twice the size of India; the river dumps 300 million litters of fresh water into the sea every second and it can span 40km at its widest point.

Unfortunately we have to wait till tomorrow to go on our first Amazon Jungle tour so made to with a walk around Belem.

Inter-web too slow to upload photos… Try to upload them later.
